
Owens And Oke Shore Up Renegades Defense

The Richmond Renegades today announced that defensemen Mike Owens and Nathan Oke have come to terms and will be returning for the 2007-08 season.
Known as a stay at home defenseman, Owens, is 6' and 205 pounds. He hails from Philadelphia, PA and played in 52 regular season games for the Renegades. He scored one goal and assisted on 6 others while accumulating 74 penalty minutes. In three playoff games he had one assist and 6 penalty minutes. The season prior to joining the Renegades he played in 72 regular season games for the Richmond Riverdogs of the UHL.
Oke joined the Renegades from Knoxville for the final 10 regular season games of their inaugural season. The Fenelon Falls, Ontario native had three assists and 21 penalty minutes in the regular season and no points and 6 penalty minutes in three playoff games. At 6' 2" and 205 pounds the hard hitting Oke immediately made his presence felt on the defensive corps. In 36 previous games with Knoxville, Oke had 2 goals and eight assists to go along with 31 penalty minutes.
The defensive pair now joins blueliner Dan VanDermeer and forwards JJ Wrobel and Kaz Takahashi as players who will be in training camp for the Renegades. Camp is scheduled for the third week of October.
