Montreal Impact News Release
MELGAÃO, Portugal - The Montreal Impact successfully held for the first time in club history an open camp in Europe, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, at the Training Center of Melgaço. With more than 200 emails sent to the organization, about twenty players were invited to take part in this scouting camp.
"Response was very positive, which shows that people are following the Montreal Impact," declared assistant coach Mauro Biello. "We received emails from all over the world and so it became necessary to screen demands. The level was very good. Two players were particularly interesting, but they don't fit in with our current formation."
"I want to thank the player agent Kevin Antunes who helped us in the preparation of this open camp," said head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Both sessions were an excellent opportunity to see players that we wouldn't have otherwise seen in Montreal. I hope that we will repeat the experience in the future, either once again in Europe or in Africa."
The Impact is currently taking part in a preseason tour in Portugal, until March 5. The team will play its second match on Portuguese soil Saturday at 3 pm against CD Ribeirao, a third division club.
