Billings Outlaws News Release
With the dust barely settled on the move to the UIF, the Outlaws are back in full swing preparing for the 2007 season. One of the first official acts as a UIF Team was the recruiting and signing of football veteran Bill Briggs as Offensive Coordinator.
Fans will remember Briggs and his high flying offense from when he led the Outlaws to the NIFL Championship Game back in 2002 game against Ohio Valley, Billings lost a tight one 55-52. "When I was approached to rejoin the team it was a chance I could not pass up. I told Austin, once an Outlaw always an Outlaw" Briggs stated with a smile! "With the Outlaws now in the UIF, I can see a great rematch and some great rivalries. I started breaking down last years game film immediately, both the Outlaws and Teams in the UIF."
Briggs went on to note he has been impressed with the organization the Outlaws have put together on and off the field. "Coach O'Neal is a players Coach, we will work well together. I have admired Chris Dixon, Robert Reed and Ali Culpepper since I first saw them play, a trio like that, backed up by a solid O-line and the depth at receivers is an OC's dream team. I can not wait to start working with them all."
Briggs joins Head Coach Heron O'Neal and Assistant Head Coach Fontez Jefferson, making the Outlaws Coaching Staff one of the strongest in the league. Former Offensive Coordinator Bob Bees is looking to move up in coaching. "Just like the players this is a developmental league for coaches as well, we wish Bob all the luck in the world as he weighs his options and looks to make a name for himself in the coaching ranks of indoor and arena football." stated Austin.
"Briggs brings twenty plus years of coaching experience to our organization, this is the veteran help I have been looking for! We have already been on the phone for hours, talking about this player and that player, this offensive scheme over that one, etc... It is getting real exciting and we still have several months to go" Noted Head Coach Heron O'Neal.
The Outlaws are off to the League Meetings in Chicago this weekend and will have their final 2007 schedule posted by Mid October. Season Tickets are on sale now and going at a record pace. Don't miss any of the action contact the Metrapark Box Office at 2562422 to get yours now.
