Billings Outlaws News Release
Legal counsel for the Billings Outlaws advised the team that the National Indoor Football League's appeal of the court's recent $189,661.00 judgement against the NIFL was denied, and ordered the NIFL to pay the judgement.
"The interesting thing," stated Dan Austin, GM for the Outlaws, "is that the league could have posted a $200,000 bond and appealed this court's decision to the State Supreme court and avoided payment until the higher court makes a decision to hear the appeal, but for some resason they did not. While they can still appeal the denial to the Supreme Court, the failure of the NIFL to post a bond means that it may be up to 14 months before the NIFL even knows if the higher court will accept to hear the appeal request. It may mean that either the NIFL is out of money or out of options."
The Outlaws filed a new lawsuit this week for failure of the NIFL to provide league services and for intentioanlly disabling the team's web site during the important pre season and for most of the regular season, failure to pay league shared revenues and for interference with one of the several temporary restraining orders issued against the NIFL by the courts.
The Outlaws ownership group will be traveling today to attend the UIF league meetings held in Chicago. Co-owner Wallace Yovetich said, "It will be nice to be working with other professional owners, who own and run the league they play in and not have to deal with the decline of it's former league and the NIFL owner's desperate actions."
