OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

Dallas Desperados wide receiver Will Pettis, Dallas Desperados defensive lineman Colston Weatherington and Philadelphia Soul defensive back Mike Brown were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week seven of the AFL season.

Pettis had ten receptions for 129 yards, five touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in the Desperados' 55-44 victory over the New Orleans VooDoo.

Weatherington collected two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the team's win over the VooDoo.

Brown had ten kick returns for 186 yards (18.6 avg.) including one return 57-yards for a touchdown in the Soul's 58-57 victory over the San Jose SaberCats.

Other players considered for Offensive honors were Orlando WR T.T. Toliver, Tampa Bay QB Brett Dietz, Los Angeles QB Tim Hicks, Cleveland WR Otis Amey, and Arizona WR Siaha Burley.

Others considered for the Defensive award were Arizona DB Isaiah Trufant, San Jose DB Marquis Floyd, Tampa Bay DB Jeroid Johnson, Columbus DL Mondre Dickerson, and New York DL Henry Taylor.

Other players considered for Special Teams honors included Colorado's Clay Rush (2-2 on field goals, 9-9 on extra points), New Orleans Wendall Williams (six returns for 143 yards, including a 56-yard TD), Columbus Rasheed Marshall (five returns for 142 yards, including a 57-yard TD), Grand Rapids Chris Martin (nine returns for 173 yards, including a 56-yard TD) and Arizona's Kevin Nickerson (seven returns for 142 yards).
