OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

March 17, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Georgia Force wide receiver Troy Bergeron, New Orleans VooDoo defensive lineman Michale Spicer and San Jose SaberCats kicker A.J. Haglund were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week three of the AFL season.
Bergeron had seven receptions for 153 yards (25.6 -yard average) and three touchdowns in the Force's 58-34 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers.
Spicer had three sacks and three pass breakups in the VooDoo's 76-55 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm.
Haglund was a perfect 4-4 on field goals (33, 18, 24, and 17 yards) 7-7 on extra points and 1.5 special team tackles in the SaberCats 63-43 victory over the Arizona Rattlers.
Other players considered for Offensive honors were Dallas WR Will Pettis, New Orleans QB Danny Wimprine, Orlando QB Shane Stafford, Georgia QB Chris Greisen and New York QB Aaron Garcia.
Others considered for the Defensive award were Philadelphia DL Gabe Nyehuis, San Jose DB Clevan Thomas, Georgia DB Cam Newton, Dallas DB Bobby Perry and DL Colston Weatherington.
Other players considered for Special Teams honors included Cleveland's Otis Amey, (six returns for 167 yards) Orlando's T.T. Toliver, (five returns for 104 yards, including with a 54-yard TD) Philadelphia's Connor Hughes, (10-10 on extra points).
