
Ottawa Fury FC to Host Minnesota United FC in Championship

OTTAWA, ON - The 2015 NASL Fall Season Champions, Ottawa Fury FC, will host Minnesota United FC in their Championship Semifinal Sunday, November 8 at TD Place at 3:00pm.
It would take a second tiebreaker Saturday night to determined the top seed in The Championship, the NASL's four-team postseason tournament. With Ottawa's 1-1 draw in Atlanta and New York's 2-0 win over Tampa Bay, the Spring Season Champions New York Cosmos and Fall Season Champions Ottawa Fury FC were level in the NASL Combined Standings with 56 points each. The first tiebreaker, goal difference, saw both teams level at +19. The second tiebreaker, goals for, proved the difference for the Cosmos who scored 49 goals this season - seven more than Ottawa.
Fury FC and Minnesota United split their three-game series this season evenly. Fury FC took a 1-0 victory at TD Place in their Spring Season home opener on April 18 on a goal by Tom Heinemann. It was Heinemann at it again on July 11 netting a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw in Minnesota. On August 15, Minnesota handed Fury FC their only loss of the Fall Season as Pedro Mendes scored a 94th minute winner to send the Loons past Fury FC 2-1 in Ottawa.
Saturday's 1-1 draw in Atlanta extended Ottawa's unbeaten streak to 12 matches - the second time this season Ottawa has achieved that feat. Fury FC have just a single loss in their last 25 matches (14W-10D-1L).
