Osceola advances with forfeit win
July 10, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Osceola Ghostriders News Release
Osceola Football will be playing in the National Indoor Football League's Atlantic Conference semifinal on Saturday night in St. Louis against the RiverCity Rage. The path there wasn't a traditional one for a playoff football team.
Osceola was scheduled to play in Cincinnati against the Marshals last week. When a scheduling conflict made a game at the U.S. Bank Arena an impossibility, Osceola Football officials secured the Lakeland Center to play the game on Monday night. When Marshals officials made it clear that the team could not make that trip, the NIFL office declared the game an Osceola forfeit victory and moved them on in the playoffs.
Osceola's opponent on Saturday, the 13-1 Rage, has been a class-act organization in the NIFL and you can bet money, marbles or chalk that this game WILL take place at the Savvis Center on Saturday at 7 p.m. Central Time.
" St. Louis has their act together," Osceola GM Dave Czech said. "They're one of the top two or three teams in the league so it should make for a good game."
The team will leave on the 18-hour bus ride after Thursday night's practice at the Silver Spurs Arena.
