Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Pride has named Carl Green assistant coach for the upcoming National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season. Green, like newly appointed Pride Head Coach Marc Skinner, will also make the move from Birmingham City Women to Orlando.
"Carl will be a great addition to our Pride coaching staff and we are very excited to welcome him to the Club," Orlando Pride General Manager Erik Ustruck said. "Not only does he boast a well-rounded expertise in both technical and fitness training, but his familiarity with Marc's coaching style will be integral in making sure our team hits the ground running come March 4."
"I am very excited to be joining Marc in this new opportunity," Green said. "I'm really looking to working with our very talented squad, the staff and everyone else at the Club."
A UEFA "B" License holder, Green most recently served on Skinner's staff at Birmingham as the team's Sports Scientist and Strength and Conditioning coach, a position he'd held since 2015. The 35-year-old coach was responsible for planning and leading the team's athletic performance program, organizing field-based fitness sessions and overseeing the club's performance tracking. In addition, Green assisted Skinner in planning tactical and technical on-field training sessions, and will continue to do so in his role with Orlando.
"Carl is an integral part of my team and I am thrilled that he is able to join me at the start of this exciting project. Carl has a wonderful blend of applied functional sports science and coaching. His personality is infectious and I'm sure the players will love his attitude and love working with him," Skinner added. "I am confident the coaching team we have in place with Carl and Lloyd Yaxley, our goalkeeper coach, will push the players everyday to ensure we are continually improving."
The Pride begin their fourth NWSL preseason on March 4, with the season kicking off on April 14 when the Club hosts Portland Thorns FC at Orlando City Stadium. Season and group ticket packages are currently available at orlando-pride.com/tickets or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.
