Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Pride goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2016 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season after suffering a left fibula fracture during training on Wednesday.
In addition, the Pride have signed goalkeeper Megan Dorsey as a goalkeeper replacement, pending league approval. Dorsey was previously called up as an amateur player for the Pride on May 28 at FC Kansas City.
"We are absolutely devastated for Aubrey. She's a phenomenal goalkeeper who has been an absolute professional this entire season, working hard and with a positive attitude each and every day," said Orlando Pride Head Coach Tom Sermanni. "We are confident she'll have a strong recovery and come back ready to help this club in any way she can."
Bledsoe was selected No. 10 overall in the 2015 NWSL Expansion Draft. An All-American out of Wake Forest University, Bledsoe played all 90 minutes in the May 28 match at Kansas City, making four saves in her first career start.
Dorsey, 24, was a four-year player at the University of North Florida. She finished her career first in career shutouts and second in career saves. The Melbourne, Fla. native holds the all-time record for saves in a match, recording 20, and finished her senior season with 96 saves - the school's record for saves in a single season.
Dorsey earned four Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors and was a two-time All-Atlantic Sun honoree.
The Pride travel to face the Washington Spirit at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 18, to wrap up a four-game road trip.
Orlando returns to Camping World Stadium on Thursday, June 23 to host the Houston Dash at 7:30 p.m. ET. That same week, the Pride will also welcome Portland Thorns FC at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 26.
Tickets for all Pride home matches can be purchased at orlando-pride.com or by calling 855-ORL-CITY.
