ORLANDO - The Arena Football League and the Orlando Predators are proud to announce that the league has added two regular season games to the 2011 schedule.

"This is a real bonus for the fans and the league," said Predators COO Darrell Harbin. "This will give Predator fans added benefit in affordable entertainment while adding large television markets to the league schedule. It is a real win all the way around."

The change was made last week during the annual AFL Board of Directors meeting in Phoenix, AZ. Teams will also have the option of playing two preseason games, one at home and one on the road.

"There has never been a better time for the Arena Football League," said Commissioner Jerry Kurz. "The product is exciting, our economic model is sound, and fans are demanding affordable family entertainment. Extending our season is a great decision, both from a business and fan perspective."

The extension of the season is partially the result of four new or returning teams in major media markets joining the league next season. The expansion Pittsburgh Power joins former AFL teams Philadelphia Soul, Kansas City Brigade, and San Jose Sabercats as teams rejoining the league.

The 18 game 2011 season will be the longest schedule the league has ever season. The AFL last expanded its schedule in 2003, going from 14 games to 16. The preseason schedule returns for the first time since 2003.
