
Orlando Predators Sign Former NFL, UCF & Dr. Phillips HS WR Doug Gabriel

ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators have been assigned former NFL and University of Central Florida WR DOUG GABRIEL by the Arena Football League office, the team announced today. Gabriel returns to Orlando after spending the 2009 season in the United Football League with the California Redwoods.
"Signing Doug Gabriel brings local flavor and tremendous NFL experience to the table. His presence adds to the already powerful wide receivers core we have coming to training camp," said Predators Head Coach, Pat O'Hara.
Gabriel, (6'3, 210, University of Central Florida) tallied 14 receptions for 174 yards (12.4 avg.) and one touchdown in the 2009 season with the UFL's Redwoods. Prior to that, Gabriel spent four seasons in the NFL where he logged playing time with both the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots. During those four seasons he recorded 101 receptions for a total of 1,550 yards (15.3 avg.) and eight touchdowns.
Prior to being selected in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, Gabriel was a two-year letterman at UCF finishing his career with 97 receptions for 1,869 yards (19.3 avg.) and 20 touchdowns, as well as 795 yards on 37 kickoff returns (21.5 avg.).
Gabriel was born in Miami, Fla. and attended Orlando's Dr. Phillips High School where he averaged better than 25 yards per catch as a senior earning all-state and all-conference honors.
