
Orlando Predators Defeated by Georgia Force, 56-53

The Orlando Predators remain defeated on the road after losing to the Georgia Force on Sunday. The Predators lost 56-53 to the Force, moving their overall record to 2-13 for the 2012 season.
The Georgia Force opened up the first quarter with a defensive stop and were able to score on their first offensive possession on a 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryant Moniz to wide receiver C.J. Johnson. Orlando was able to add a 19-yard field goal by Mark Lewis on their next possession. On the following kickoff, the Predators failed an onside kick-attempt, giving the Force possession at the Orlando 12-yard-line. Georgia took advantage of the good field position by scoring on their first play of the drive on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to wide receiver Larry Shipp. The score extended the Force lead to 14-3, and brought an end to the first quarter.
The Predators began the second quarter with a seven-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chris Leak to wide receiver Jarvis Williams. The Force responded with a score on their next drive on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to wide receiver Shay Hodge, extending their lead, 21-10. With under a minute to play in the first half, the Predator offense was able to find the end zone on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Leak to Toliver. On the following kickoff, the Predators failed an onside kick-attempt, giving the Force possession at the Orlando six-yard-line. The Force were able to capitalize off of the good field position with a one-yard rushing touchdown by fullback Benji McDowell. With less than 10 seconds left to play in the half, Leak found wide receiver Glen Fox for a 13-yard touchdown pass. The touchdown brought an end to the first half with Georgia leading, 28-24.
The Force opened up the second half with a three-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to Hodge. The score extended the Georgia lead, 35-24. The Predators responded by scoring their first points of the second half on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Leak to Fox. Orlando failed a two-point conversion attempt, making the score, 35-30. Georgia was able to find the end zone on their next possession on a three-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to wide receiver Mike Johnson. The score brought an end to the third quarter, the Force leading 42-30.
The Predators began the fourth quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown by newly acquired fullback Mykel Benson. Orlando successfully completed a two-point conversion, making the score, 42-38. The Force were able to find the end zone on their next possession on a 34-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to Hodge. The Predators answered the score with a touchdown, a six-yard pass from Leak to Williams. Toliver was able to rush for the two-point conversion, making the score, 49-46. Georgia rallied back to score on their next possession on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Moniz to Hodge, his fourth touchdown reception of the game, making the score 56-46 with one minute left to play. With less than 35 seconds left, the Predators scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown by Benson, bringing the score to 56-53. On the following kickoff, the Predators failed an onside kick-attempt, giving Georgia possession of the football. After a turnover on downs by the Force, Lewis failed to add a field goal after the ball was tipped by Force linebacker Caleb Bostic. Georgia ran out the clock, handing the Predators their 13th loss of the season.
The Predators were led statistically by quarterback Chris Leak. Leak was 30-47, threw for 314 yards, and five touchdowns. Wide receivers Jarvis Williams and Glen Fox received the bulk of the receptions in the game. Williams caught 13 passes for 120 yards and two touchdown passes, while Fox hauled in 13 receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
Orlando was led on defense by defensive lineman Jason Peters and defensive back Travis Coleman. Peters notched five total tackles in the game, while Coleman posted five total tackles.
Up next, the Predators return home to The Jungle to take on the Cleveland Gladiators on Friday, July 6. The American Conference South Division matchup will serve as the second game of the season between the two teams. Cleveland won the first matchup in Week Five, 41-24.
