Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO - March 26, 2016 - The Orlando Predators concluded 2016 Training Camp on Friday afternoon by finalizing the team's initial 24-man roster. The team will immediately begin preparations for its season opener on the road against the Tampa Bay Storm next Friday, April 1.
"The group of men that we have assembled for the start of the 2016 season have demonstrated the hard work and dedication it takes to play professional football at a high level. The championship expectations that we as the Orlando Predators have for our 25th anniversary year are beginning to take shape and we're proud of the progress these players have made over the past two and a half weeks," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "Our goal is to always put the best possible team on the field and we feel very confident in the level of talent that we've assembled."
Orlando's initial 24-man roster features five rookies and 19 veteran players, including seven former All-Arena performers in wide receivers Greg Carr (2014) and Brandon Thompkins (2015), defensive linemen Willie McGinnis (2014-15) and Mike Lewis (2011-14), defensive backs Varmah Sonie (2014) and Kent Richardson (2012), and linebacker Terence Moore (2015).
In order to get down to the league-mandated active roster limits on Friday, the team parted ways with defensive linemen Meshak Williams and Padric Scott as well as defensive back De'Mon Glanton and offensive lineman John Brown. Defensive back Arthur Hobbs was also placed on injured reserve, while wide receiver Kendal Thompkins was placed on league suspension due to personal reasons.
Orlando opens its 25th season on the road against the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The 58th installment of the "War on I-4" rivalry also marks the 3,000th game in Arena Football League history and can be seen live on ESPN3/Watch ESPN.
