Orlando Predators Add Two Free Agents to Defense

ORLANDO - May 28, 2015 - The Orlando Predators added two free agents to its roster Wednesday, announcing the acquisitions of defensive back Brian Smith and defensive end Toby Jackson.

Smith (5-11, 180, Virginia Union) played collegiately at Virginia Union University, where he registered 166 tackles with six interceptions, 25 pass breakups, four blocked kicks and two forced fumbles in four seasons as a starter. As a senior in 2012, Smith ranked among the nation's leaders with 12 pass breakups. He also added 42 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick.

Following his college career, Smith attended rookie minicamp with the New York Jets in 2013. He joined the Portland Thunder for training camp during the team's inaugural season in 2014.

Jackson (6-4, 260, Central Florida) played one season at the University of Central Florida and delivered 14 tackles with three tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry, and one blocked kick. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent after declaring for the NFL's supplemental draft in 2013.

Prior to transferring to UCF, Jackson played at Navarro College, where he led the team to a victory in the 2010 NJCAA National Championship. Jackson earned Most Valuable Player honors in the national championship game after recording two sacks against top-seeded Butler Community College.
