Chicago Bandits News Release

"Four women's major fastpitch softball teams and the Beverly Bandits 18U squad will take part in the action."

The Chicago Bandits announced today the five opponents that will be competing in place of the Venezuelan National Team. On Wednesday, July 15 the Bandits will take on the Beverly Bandits 18U squad at 7:05 pm. The Beverly Bandits are known for their track record of producing players that consistently earn Division 1 scholarships so don't look towards this team for an easy win. It will no doubt be a hard fought contest.

On Thursday, July 16 the Bandits will face the Bloomington Lady Hearts women's major team in a rare midweek double header. In place of the usual 7:05 pm start time, the home squad will take the field an hour earlier at 6:05 pm. The Lady Hearts have a rich softball tradition stemming from 24 years on the traveling softball scene. Last season, the Lady Hearts were lucky enough to square off against the best athletes in the world as they took the field against the United States Olympic team.

For the game on Friday, July 17 the Peoria Lady Rage women's major squad will come to town for the 7:05 pm game. The Lady Rage is also known for their dominance in the traveling softball circuit. Their most recent success came in Rockford, Ill. last summer at the 18 & Over World Series where they placed fourth with a 6-2 record. You may recognize a familiar face on their roster as well. Former 2005 Bandits member Lindsey Hamma is associated with their program. Another 6:05 pm double header highlights Saturday's contest as the Bandits take on the Indiana Slammers women's major team. The Slammers are known as Indiana's premier women's fastpitch team and are compiled mostly of Division 1 athletes. Last summer, the Slammers capped off their season by winning the USSSA Women's Fastpitch World Series in 2008 ending with a phenomenal record of 27-3.

The series finale will feature the orange and black facing up against the Illinois Alleycats women's major team at 3:05 pm on Sunday afternoon. The Alleycats are in their eighth season and are a mix of high school seniors heading into college, current college athletes and college graduates. Some notable accomplishments to their name include first place at the first USSSA State Tournament, taking 14 first place tournament trophies in the last seven years and holding the record for winning three tournaments in a row. These games are considered exhibition games and will not count towards the Bandits' overall record. Tickets purchased for the Venezuelan series are still valid for the dates of July 15 thru 19. All promotional nights will go on as planned as well. Log onto chicagobandits.com and click on the promotions tab for an in depth look at the festivities.
