
Opie Scores Two in Team North Win

ANN ARBOR - Tim Opie scored a pair of goals - including the eventual game-winner - on Monday in the second day of action at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, lifting Team North past their West Division counterparts.
Opie (Troy, MI/TC North Stars) scored his first marker 11:49 into the second period, and issued the very next tally as well with 2:20 to play in the frame. Michael Szmatula (Commerce Twp., MI/Lansing Capitals U18) drew his first all-star assist, setting up Opie's second score. Travis White (Sterling Heights, MI/TC North Stars) registered a shot on net.
Team North, now 1-1, wrap up their all-star slate on Tuesday, facing off again Team Central in a 12:15 p.m. affair. All four divisional squads are 1-1 two-thirds of the way through the event.
Opie, Szmatula, White, and the rest of the North Stars travel to Flint to take on the Warriors this Wednesday before returning to Centre ICE Arena next weekend for a two-game series with Motor City beginning on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and concluding Sunday (Feb. 27) afternoon at 1 p.m.
