Opening Weekend Sure To Thrill

Frederick, MD - Opening weekend at Harry Grove Stadium is sure to thrill, filled with fireworks, great giveaways and special presentations. The Frederick Keys, Advanced Class-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, start their 2008 campaign Friday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m. against the Lynchburg Hillcats. Prior to first pitch the Keys will honor their 2007 championship season with an on-field ring ceremony followed by the raising of the championship banner. The series will continue Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th with both contests at 2:00 p.m.

"We can't wait to get our 20th season started," Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis said. "Opening weekend is chalk full of giveaways and special events that will get this special season off to a great start."

Opening Night, Friday April 4th will kick start the 20th season of Frederick Keys baseball with the first 1,000 fans through the gate receiving a Replica Championship Ring courtesy of Zambelli Fireworks Internationale and a 2008 Magnet Schedule presented by The Plamondon Companies - Roy Rogers, the Courtyard-Marriott, Fairfield Inn and Residence Inn. The first of many fireworks shows will grace the skies following the season opener.

Saturday, April 5th will be the Keys annual Fanfest starting at 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with free autographs from the 2008 Frederick Keys team and coaching staff beginning at noon. Admission is free and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free hot dog and soda.

Along with Fanfest, the first 1,000 fans will receive a 2008 Magnet Schedule and a 2008/2009 Frederick Keys Calendar courtesy of H.N. Funkhouser. The day is also Montgomery County Keys for Reading Day presented by HBP, Inc. and Invitrogen.

Opening weekend will conclude with an afternoon matinee. It will be Sunday Funday at Harry Grove Stadium with families able to play catch on the outfield grass prior to the ballgame along with another autograph session. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a 2008 Magnet Schedule and it will be Howard County Keys for Reading Day. The Keys Café will offer Sunday Brunch and following the game Frederick Keys manager Tommy Thompson will host a free coaches clinic to all area coaches who sign-up.
