Omaha, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) will have two more shots to capture their first win of the 2012-2013 campaign this weekend when the team travels to Sioux Falls and Sioux City for its first Western Conference showdowns of the young season.

The Lancers opened the regular season last weekend with their longest road trip of the year, which featured stops in Youngstown and Indianapolis. Despite owning a 2-1 lead going into the third period on Friday, Omaha suffered an Opening Night setback to the Phantoms after Youngstown scored four goals in the third period en route to the come-from-behind victory. The Lancers then closed their opening weekend Saturday when Ice goaltender Dalton Izyk registered an 18-save shutout as part of a 2-0 Indiana win.

Omaha returns to the frozen surface this Friday in search of its first win of the year when the team travels to Sioux Falls to battle the Stampede. Like the Lancers, Sioux Falls (0-2, 0 pts.) is still looking for its first win of the young season after falling 5-1 to the Lincoln Stars last Friday before being doubled up 8-4 by the Waterloo Black Hawks the following evening. After hosting Omaha on Friday, the Stampede will travel to Des Moines Saturday for a showdown with the Buccaneers.

Omaha's weekend then concludes Saturday when the team travels back down I-29 for its first meeting of the year with the Sioux City Musketeers. Sioux City (0-0-1, 1 pt.) suffered a 3-2 shootout loss at the hands of the Fargo Force last weekend in its only game of the week. The Musketeers will travel to Tri-City on Friday to face off against the Storm before welcoming the Lancers on Saturday.

Omaha Notes:

Omaha Lancers - 0-2-0, 0 pts. (T-6th Western Conference)

- The Lancers have started the season 0-2 for the first time since 2008. Omaha finished the 2008-09 campaign second overall in the Western Conference with a 32-21-7 record. It's just the fourth time in the last 10 seasons that the Lancers have started the year 0-2.

- F Tyler Hynes, F Drew Melanson and F Alex Rauter each tallied their first career USHL goals last weekend.

- G Alex Lyon registered back-to-back 30-save performances last weekend recording 34 saves Friday at Youngstown before turning aside 31 of Indiana's 33 total shots on Saturday.

- Omaha's penalty kill was a perfect 6-for-6 in two games last weekend and is tied atop the USHL.

Opponents Notes:

Friday, Oct. 5 @ Sioux Falls Stampede - 0-2-0, 0 pts. (T-2nd Western Conference)

- Sioux Falls finished eighth and last in the Western Conference last season with an overall record of 17-36-7 and just 41 standings points. The Stampede return seven skaters from last year's roster along with three additional skaters with previous USHL experience.

- Sioux Falls went 11-16-3 at home last season and posted a 0-5-3 record head-to-head against the Lancers.

- F Kyle Schempp recorded a goal in each of his first two career USHL games last weekend.

- The Stampede's power play went 1-for-6 last weekend while the penalty kill surrendered a pair of power play goals against in eight man-down situations.

Saturday, Oct. 6 @ Sioux City Musketeers - 0-0-1, 1 pts. (T-4th Western Conference)

- Sioux City finished fifth among the eight teams in the Western Conference last season with an overall mark of 29-30-1 and 59 standings points. The Musketeers return seven skaters from last year while their current roster features an additional two skaters with previous USHL experience.

- Sioux City went 14-15-1 at home last season and posted a 3-5 record head-to-head against the Lancers.

- F Jordan Boucher-Gould and F David Goodwin currently lead the Musketeers in scoring after both veterans notched a pair of points during the team's opening weekend 3-2 shootout loss to Fargo.

- Sioux City's power play was 1-for-3 in its showdown with the Force last Friday while the penalty kill was 3-for-4.
