
Oklahoma Tops among Colleges with 13 Players on AFL Preseason Rosters

NEW YORK â Thirteen former players from the Oklahoma Sooners are on the preseason rosters of AFL teams â the most of any college or university. Tennessee is second with 10 players, while Arkansas, West Virginia and Western Michigan are tied for third with nine. Houston and Ohio State tie for sixth with eight.

Among the 13 Oklahoma players are Grand Rapids Rampage OL/DL ROD MANUEL (6-6, 295) and Philadelphia Soul OL/DL COREY MAYFIELD (6-3, 325). Both are former ArenaBowl champions and former NFL Draft picks.
Oklahoma alumni and all AFL players will receive more exposure than ever before as the League enters its second season on NBC. The network will broadcast up to 60 AFL games â the second-most number of games of any sports league on network-TV, behind only the NFL â including all playoff games and ArenaBowl XVIII on June 27. Nineteen weeks of regional coverage on NBC begins Sunday, February 8.
