Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release
Moosic, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in conjunction with the Times Tribune are holding their first ever Times Tribune National Anthem Tryouts at the Mall at Steamtown to help kick-off the 2009 baseball season. The tryouts will be on Saturday, March 7th in the center court of the Mall at Steamtown from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
It's the first community event the Yankees will hold leading up to opening day at PNC Field on April 17th and will feature some of the finest performers from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Area. All of them will put their best "note" forward for the opportunity to perform our National Anthem in front of a sold out crowd at beautiful PNC Field.
Fans may still have a chance to perform even if they did not pre-register. The Yankees will have a stand-by line during the tryouts. If the pre-registered performers run ahead of schedule, we will select people from our stand-by line to audition. Whether you're an adult or child, sing solo, sing with a friend, sing with a group or choir, or play an instrument, we want you!
The selection of fill-in performers from the stand-by line will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to arrive at the mall early to secure your spot in line. Due to time constraints we cannot guarantee that space will become available to perform, but we will do our best to accommodate interested participants.
