Valley Blue Sox News Release

BALTIMORE, MD - Blue Sox alum Trey Mancini '11 made his Major League debut last Tuesday night an unforgettable one.

Mancini launched a 95mph Eduardo Rodriguez fastball over the left centerfield wall in the bottom of the 5th inning in his second-ever MLB at bat. The solo shot was Mancini's first as a Major Leaguer.

His mother Beth was on hand to watch the game.

Mancini wasn't finished, however - belting two more HR's in his next two games - second home run against the Boston Red Sox on September 22nd and his third knock coming vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 24th.

Mancini is the third Blue Sox alum to make it to the Major Leagues in the last three years - joining San Francisco Giants outfielder Juan Perez and Colorado Rockies Catcher Tommy Murphy in the bigs. So far, Mancini is hitting .357 in 15 plate appearances.

Next big league watch will be on Ronnie Freeman - a teammate of both Murphy and Mancini on the 2011 squad. He currently plays for the Reno Aces (AAA) in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He is currently hitting .286 since being called up from AA.

Blue Sox rank #11 in attendance nationally The Blue Sox finished 1st in the NECBL and 11th overall nationally in average attendance among all Summer Collegiate baseball teams! Check it out here!
