October 19, 2015 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Sky Blue FC News Release

While the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) offseason occurs, a handful of Sky Blue FC players have made the move overseas to continue developing their game in international competition. Each player has seen success on the international front, playing pivotal role for their clubs.

Fortuna Hjørring recently defeated FK Minsk in aggregate, 6-0, to advance to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, where they will face Brescia. The Danish club has been heavily assisted by a pair of Sky Blue FC players in tournament play, with forward Nadia Nadim recording three goals and goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe providing two consecutive clean sheets. Fortuna Hjørring played again on Monday, drawing with Brøndby by a tally of 2-2. Nadim scored once again in the match.

The Australian W-League has seen great offensive efforts from Sky Blue FC players as well. The W-League opened up its season over the weekend, first with midfielder Sarah Killion and Adelaide United, which drew with the Western Sydney Wanderers, 2-2. In that contest, Killion recorded both goals for Adelaide United.

Defender Caitlin Foord and forward Sam Kerr both returned to their native country of Australia during the NWSL offseason, again joining Perth Glory after leading the club to the W-League Championship Match last season. Perth was victorious in a 2-1 result over Melbourne Victory during opening weekend, with both Foord and Kerr registering goals to provide the final score line.
