Sky Blue FC News Release
While the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) offseason occurs, a handful of Sky Blue FC players have made the move overseas to continue developing their game in international competition. Throughout the NWSL offseason, we will keep you updated with the latest news and developments with our players.
Forward Nadia Nadim went on an offensive tear for Fortuna Hjørring this past weekend, scoring a total of six goals in a 10-0 win over Ballerup-Skovlunde. The six goals continue an incredible offensive stretch for the Danish striker, who has consistently found the back of the net for Fortuna Hjørring since returning to Denmark.
Sky Blue FC midfielder Sarah Killion played 90 minutes for Adelaide United in Australia W-League play over the weekend, helping her team to a 2-1 victory over Brisbane Roar FC. The loss for Brisbane was its first of the W-League season. Adelaide remains unbeaten in two matches this season, registering a draw in its first game of the year against the Western Sydney Wanderers, 2-2.
Perth Glory fell 4-0 to top ranked Melbourne City FC in W-League play, which has now won three consecutive contests to start to the 2015-16 season. In the match, forward Sam Kerr and midfielder Nikki Stanton each recorded 90 minutes for Perth, albeit while suffering their first defeat of the young season.
