Offseason Report: Australia W-League Table Continues to Take Shape

While the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) offseason occurs, a handful of Sky Blue FC players have made the move overseas to continue developing their game in international competition. Throughout the NWSL offseason, we will keep you updated with the latest news and developments with our players.

Only Sky Blue FC players who are competing in the Australia W-League saw action this past week, as Danish club Fortuna Hjørring (Nadia Nadim) and Japanese side Vedalta Sendai (Brittany Cameron) did not have any games on the slate.

Sky Blue FC midfielder Sarah Killion and Adelaide United (2-2-2, 8 points) suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sydney FC on Friday night, which caused them to fall to fifth place on the W-League table. In that match, Killion was in the Starting XI and played a full 90 minutes for Adelaide.

Perth Glory, which boasts Sky Blue FC teammates Caitlin Foord, Sam Kerr (injured) and Nikki Stanton, returned to play this past Saturday when it met Melbourne Victory. Stanton made the start and recorded 90 minutes, but her squad eventually fell in that contest by a tally of 3-1. With the result, Perth fell to 2-3-1 (7 points) on the season and currently sits level for sixth place on the W-League standings. However, the team is just three points shy of second place Canberra United.

Foord was not available for Perth over the weekend due to national team commitments with the Matildas, which defeated Korea Republic at Incheon Stadium in South Korea on Sunday, 1-0.
