Officials come together
Published on June 30, 2005 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Rochester, NY. Tom Chichester, ABA Director of Officials, has received many emails from officials who attended the referees' training session in San Diego. There are now hundreds of people on the staff. One of the emails was from referee Dave Moss.
"I first want to thank you and your lovely wife, Carol, for all you both have contributed to the success of the ABA league. I commend you friend for your vision of this league and how the officials staff is in grafted with it. This weekend was a first class operation. From the watch, to the facilities, and most importantly, how I felt as a member of this team, you made me feel I belonged and treated me with the utmost respect.
I had a tremendous weekend of fellowship and sensing a cohesive mindset with my fellow officials on how the ABA ref business is to take place. I also examined you and those closest to you on yuour connectivity as our leaders and our intense desire to have our organization as focused, professional ambassadors of this league. I am excited for you and our great staff for this year and the unfolding of the vision you have for this league and future growth.
Thank you for your vote of confidence for allowing me, a seven year, wet behind the ears ref to be a part of this team we call the ABA. Your leadership is strong, but you lead softly. Your vision is large enough for those of us not seeing the whole picture to step into your vision and move forward with you until we get it. Thanks again for everything. See you this upcoming season."
(We hope you enjoy a little of the "behind the scenes" look at the ABA).

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
