Off the Pitch with Lance Rozeboom
January 21, 2014 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Rochester Rhinos News Release
A comfortable off-season has Lance ready for 2014!
Dan Gerow - What have you been up to this off-season? Any big events?
Lance Rozeboom - I guess you could say I had a pretty big event this off-season. I actually got married on December 14th. My wife, Kristin and I, were married in Iowa and then went to Jamaica for our honeymoon for a week.
DG - When you return to Rochester, what's the first thing you are going to do?
LR - Go to Leaf and Bean of course.
ÃâÃÂ
DG - What are aspects of your game that you have focused on this off-season? And why?
LR - I think that with this off-season it was important for me to get a bit of rest first and foremost. It was a long first two years in my professional career so it was good to let the body rejuvenate for a bit. Then I really focused on getting stronger, getting fit, and then of course doing some ball work just to continue to tighten up a few things. There is always room for improvement in any sport.
DG - When you are not working on your game, what do you like to do in Rochester?
LR - I love reading at a local coffee shop called Leaf and Bean in Chili. I also am finishing my degree so of course I will be taking classes as well. It's always good to go to the lake during the summer on the few off days we have.
DG - Who's the physically toughest player you have played against?
LR - The physically toughest player I played against is Maicon Santos. I played with him on DC United my rookie year and when I played against him in training he was an absolute beast.ÃâÃÂ
DG - What is your typical pre-game meal?
LR - The night before a game I have chicken and pasta. In the morning I have a big breakfast with eggs and fruit. For lunch I have a sandwich and fruit. When I head to the stadium before a match I will bring a banana and a protein bar.
ÃâÃÂ
DG - What is your favorite club soccer team?
I don't have a favorite club or a specific team that I follow or root for. I enjoy watching classy football...whether that is Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or any top club in any country including the United States I like to watch because it is important to learn from the top players in the world.
DG - What activity or event is at the top of your bucket list?
LR - Taking my wife to the Rothenburg Christmas Market in Rothenburg, Germany. Or having dinner with Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, or Roger Federer...whichever comes first.
