Oakland Fall 3-1 in Orange County
October 5, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Oakland Roots News Release
Oakland got off to a hot start following a corner kick when Neveal Hackshaw's headed cross found Anuar Peláez, who struck the ball for the first time, giving Oakland a 1-0 lead inside of 10 minutes.
Both sides battled through the next 35 minutes, with Orange County controlling most of the possession in the first half without finding a goal as the match reached stoppage time.
Orange County earned a penalty just before the halftime break, which Milan Oloski calmly converted to make the match 1-1.
Oakland switched off with the last touch of the first half when Thomas Amang scored off the corner, putting Oakland behind 2-1 at the break.
Oakland made another mistake early to start the second half. Brian Iloski cleaned it up with a beautiful strike, giving the home side a 3-1 lead.
Noah Delgado used all five of his subs by the 77th minute in hopes of turning the game around, but it was not to be for Oakland, who dropped all three points.
Oakland now has San Diego Loyal away on Saturday, October 7th before finishing up the season at home vs El Paso Locomotive on October 14th at Cal State University, East Bay.
