Miami Manatees News Release
Miami, Fla. â The WHA2 announced that Miami Manatees right wing Oak Hewer was named the Player of the Week.
"Oak has been an integral part of our team. He has been playing solid for us since the start of the season, so this is a good accomplishment for him to be named the player of the week." Player/Assistant Coach Tom Perry said.
Hewer scored two goals and an assist in wins over Lakeland and Jacksonville this past week, with one of the goals being a power-play game winning goal. Hewer's seven points in three games ties him for second place in the WHA2 in scoring.
This marks the second week in a row that a player from the Miami Manatees was awarded the player of the week honors. Manatees left wing Eric Perricone was named the WHA2 player of the week for the first week of the season.
The Miami Manatees play in the Miami Arena as part of the six-team WHA2. The Miami Manatees will face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2's inaugural season.
