NY Lizards Drop Third Game of Compressed 2020 MLL Season to Denver Outlaws, 12-11

Anapolis, MD - The New York Lizards MLL Lacrosse team lost their third game of the compressed 2020 season to the Denver Outlaws by a score of 12-11 in regular play here today. The Lizards' team record this season stands at 0-3. The Lizards will next face the Connecticut Hammerheads on Wed, July 22 @ 4 p.m.

The Denver Outlaws erased a 6-4 halftime deficit by outscoring the Lizards 6-1 in the third quarter and held on for a 12-11 win on Tuesday night at Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium, in Annapolis, Maryland. With the win, the Outlaws clinch a berth in the semifinals while the Lizards remain alive for a postseason berth. After Dylan Molloy scored his 6th goal of the season to extend the Lizards (0-3) lead to 7-5, the Outlaws (3-0) scored the final five goals of the third quarter, including four straight tallies from Ryan Lee, to take a 10-7 lead after three quarters. Lee finished the game with five tallies and ten shots on goal.

Rain began to fall late in the third quarter and following the end of the period there was a lightning strike causing a weather delay that lasted just under an hour and a half.

When play resumed, the Lizards fought back as the rain came down hard in the fourth quarter. Goals by Sean O'Hara and Dylan Molloy scored 40 seconds apart to bring the Lizards within a goal within a goal with 6:13 remaining in the game. The Lizards had a chance to tie late in the game, but a controversial moving pick call turned the ball back over to Denver with 23.8 seconds left in the game. Molloy scored two goals on the night and now has seven on the season. Connor O'Hara scored three goals for his third hat trick of the season and now has a total of ten goals. Decker Curran scored two goals while the other Lizards goals were scored by Andrew Pettit, Nicky Galasso, and Steven Romano.

For Denver, Long Island native Daniel Bucaro scored three goals for his third hat trick of the season while Chris Aslanian had a goal and three assists for four points. The Outlaws outshot the Lizards 43-41, had the shots on goal edge 27-21, edged the Lizards 37-36 and won 14 out of 26 face-offs. Denver netminders Nick Washuta (4) and Christian Knight (6) combined for 10 saves while Lizards goalie Austin Kaut made 15 stops.

The Lizards return to action on Wednesday when they face the Connecticut Hammerheads at 4pm in a game that can be seen live on ESPN+.
