
NWSL Announces Complete Results of the 2015 College Draft

PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 16, 2015) - The Houston Dash selected University of Virginia and U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Morgan Brian with the first overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft on Friday at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia.
Sky Blue FC used the second overall pick on midfielder Sarah Killion from UCLA. With four of the next five selections in the draft, the Western New York Flash selected defender Abby Dahlkemper and midfielder Samantha Mewis from UCLA with the No. 3 and 4 overall picks before drafting forward Lynn Williams from Pepperdine (No. 6) and midfielder Jaelene Hinkle from Texas Tech (No. 7).
Meanwhile, the Chicago Red Stars made midfielder Stephanie McCaffrey of Boston College (No. 5) their selection before wrapping up the first round with Arin Gilliland from Kentucky (No.8) and defender Danielle Colaprico from University of Virginia (No. 9).
In addition, the NWSL approved four trades during Friday's draft, involving six teams.
Trades (Correction made to the Houston-Portland Trade of No. 13 pick):
* Boston Breakers acquire the rights to Steffaine McCaffrey from the Chicago Red Stars, in exchange for the No. 9 overall and No. 11 overall in the 2015 College Draft.
# Houston Dash acquire a player to be named later from the Portland Thorns FC, in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 College Draft and a second round pick in the 2016 College Draft.
$ Portland Thorns FC acquire Jodie Taylor from the Washington Spirit in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 College Draft and two second round picks (One via HOU) in the 2016 College Draft.
% FC Kansas City have acquired two second round picks in the 2016 College Draft from the Washington Spirit, in exchange for the No. 19 overall pick in the 2015 College Draft.
