What Is the NWHL? The National Women's Hockey League is the first professional league to pay women to play hockey. The 2015-16 season marks the inaugural campaign for this four team organization and has been extensively covered worldwide.
This game features several Olympic-level players including Team USA captain Meghan Duggan and silver medalists Kelli Stack, Molly Engstrom and Megan Bozek.
Game Details:
The last meeting between these two clubs was a tightly-contested 3-2 overtime affair on December 6. Kaleigh Fratkin scored the game-tying goal with 1:07 left in the third period before Kelli Stack won it in the shootout.
The Beauts come into Sunday's play having beaten Boston for the first time in franchise history (4-3). Megan Bozek's overtime goal cemented her status as the NWHL's Player of the Week.
Fratkin and teammate Shiann Darkangelo are the only two NWHL players to have been named First Star twice. Fratkin is tied for second in the league with 14 points. Sunday marks the first time the Whale have played on back-to-back days this season.
Media wishing to cover the game should email Jake Duhaime (jduhaime@nwhl.co) for credentials. Both teams will be available for interviews following the conclusion of play (8:30 PM). Television crews on deadline will have media availability with players from 4:00-5:00 PM by special request only.
