NWFA Gains Momentum
April 21, 2003 - National Women's Football Association (NWFA) News Release
Nashville, TN-The National Women's Football Association had some great football action this past weekend with many of the powerhouse teams from last season showing their stuff and several expansion teams putting out the word that they are contenders.
Last year's champions, the Detroit Demolition showed its power and abilities with a 45-9 win over the SW Michigan Jaguars. The Cleveland Fusion put on quite a show with a convincing win over the Toledo Spitfire. Just over one minute into the game on the second play, Fusion QB Sue Koziol threw a 57-yard TD striker to wide-receiver #84 Lori Johnson. If that wasn't enough, the Fusion's Michelle Scotch ran a punt back in the second quarter for 99 yards! The Pensacola Power powered on to victory with a win over division rival New Orleans Spice. The nail-biter of the night was the game between the Pittsburgh Passion and The Columbus Flames (two expansion teams) which ended in a 21-18 win for the Flames.
