Northwell Health Rejoins Lizards as Official Health System

Garden City, NY - The New York Lizards are excited to announce a two-year partnership with Northwell Health, formerly North Shore-LIJ Health System, as the Official Health System of the team. Northwell Health will be the exclusive orthopaedic and physical therapy providers to the 2015 Major League Lacrosse Champions, The New York Lizards. Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione will serve as Head Team Physician throughout the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Their continued commitment to the team exemplifies their belief in the importance of the Lizards in the Tri-state area," said New York Lizards' CEO Jeffrey Rudnick. "Dr. Sgaglione is one of the top orthopaedic doctors in the country and we are so fortunate to have him looking after the well-being of our players."

Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione is the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwell Health and Professor at the Hofstra Northwell Health School of Medicine. He also serves as the Senior Vice President for the Orthopaedic Service Line and the Executive Director of the Orthopaedic Institute.

Dr. Sgaglione has been in clinical practice for more than 26 years in Great Neck, NY. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles. Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (STARS), part of Northwell Health provides sports therapy for athletes of all levels. The team of skilled sports therapists work with Northwell Health Sports Medicine Orthopaedists to employ a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to treatment and prevention of sports related injuries
