Fort Worth, TX. The ABA North Texas Fresh held its first tryout for the 2009-2010 season at the North Side Boys and Girls Club in Fort Worth, Texas. "The turnout was impressive," said Jay Bowdy, owner and CEO. "The players in attendance performed numerous drills and scrimmages in effort to prove their worthiness of an opportunity for a potential spot on the roster." The tryout was led by Bowdy, Coach Charles Hill, Coach Aaron Evans, Coach Lewis Lee and volunteer Jeremy Smith.

At the end of the day, eleven players were invited back for the training camp including: Ralph Johnson, Carzell Wynn, Brandon Perry, Termaine Snyder, Jesse Haynes, Jerry Vaughn-Taylor, Jack Lind, Robert Taylor, Maurice Williams, Zack Vanserlow and Casey Forge. "The talent we saw heightened my excitement for the season even more," said Coach Hill.

The training camp will be held in August and may consist of 40-45 players, which will be cut down to 20 to make the official team. "We found 11 players that will make a competitive training camp," added Coach Evans. "I'm looking forward to see who will make our final roster."

"The generosity and support from our food sponsors is sincerely appreciated," said Bowdy. Sponsors included Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cantina Laredo, Chicken Express, Jason's Deli and Sam's Soul Food and Grill.

A second tryout is tentatively scheduled for July where more players will be chosen to compete for a spot on the roster.
