Nogales Charros News Release
Tucson, May 15, 2003: The Charros had 36 players in camp on Thursday. Manager Mike Odum and Pitching Coach Gil Heredia put the players through a six hour workout. "We have a lot of good players in camp, it is going to be difficult to cut it down to 25 players" said Coach Odum. The Charros have their first spring training game on Friday, May 16th at 7pm. "The best way to see what they can do is in a game situation." said General Manager Shane Folsom. The Charros will play nine spring training games before opening at home on May 30th. " I am excited to be coaching in my home town. Our pitching staff looks very promising and it should be lots of fun." said former major league pitcher Gil Heredia. Gil retired from the Major Leagues in March after being in spring training camp with the Chicago White Sox. He is from Nogales, Arizona.
