No nice neighbors in the WIFL

April 20, 2007 - World Indoor Football League 2 (WIFL 2) News Release

It's the third go-around for backyard brawls in the World Indoor Football League this weekend, and nobody has been a nice neighbor.

The home team has won all four meetings in games where the Florida or Georgia teams have played each other. The Daytona Beach Thunder and Augusta Spartans hope that pattern continues when Leon Bright's squad hosts the Osceola Ghostriders Sunday and Columbus travels to Augusta Friday.

The Thunder (1-5) has lost both trips to nearby Kissimmee, but are hoping DBCC Public Broadcasting 15 Field at the Ocean Center helps snap a two-game losing streak.

Augusta (3-3) is hoping to both recreate the magic of a 49-45 home opener victory against Columbus last month and maintain momentum from last week's 55-46 decision over the injury-riddled Ghostriders. (3-3)

If the neighbor storyline doesn't work, here's the former neighbor aspect: Daytona Beach QB Bo Bartik and Osceola WR Gerald Gales will be on opposite sides after spending the past two seasons with the Rome Renegades, who advanced to the championship game in both the National Indoor Football League and the American Indoor Football League.

Audiocasts of both games this weekend will be available on the WIFLInternetwork by clicking www.wifl.ezstream.com.
