No Glory for Force Against Washington

July 18, 2007- Fairfax, Va. - The Philadelphia Force dropped a 5-0 decision to the first-place Washington Glory in game one of a four-game series. The Force, who came into the game winners of seven of their last nine games, could not push a run across against Glory pitchers Desiree Serrano and Jen Musillo. The loss, combined with a New England Riptide loss to China, leaves the Force two games behind the Riptide for fourth place in the NPF standings.

The Glory (22-7) scored one in the first, one in the third, and three in the fifth. Amber Jackson was responsible for two of the runs as she hit her 7th and 8th home runs of the season, both were solo shots.

Kristina Thorson (7-3) took the loss. She pitched three innings and gave up four hits while striking out three. Meagan Hennessy relieved her and pitched two innings. Jodie Cox made her 2007 debut, pitching one scoreless inning.

Offensively, the Force (13-12) knocked five base hits against Serrano, who leads the NPF with a 13-3 record, and Musillo. Stacie Pestrak was 2-for-2 for the Force. Sharonda McDonald, Clare Burnum, and Trena Peel added the remaining hits for the Force.

The Force and Glory do battle again Thursday night at the George Mason Softball Complex with game time set for 7:05.
