Edmonton Rush News Release
Edmonton, AB--The Edmonton Rush are pleased to announce that two of their own have been recognized by the National Lacrosse League in the year-end Executive Awards.
Sales Manager Paul Brosseau was named the Ticket Sales Executive of the Year and Director of Communications Pauline Hughes was named Public Relations Executive of the Year. The team executive awards are voted on by the Governors and General Managers of the league's thirteen member clubs. Members of the league media also vote on the Public Relations Executive of the Year Award.
"Paul sold tickets at all hours of the day and this award is a result of his passion and dedication to the Rush," said Rush President Duane Vienneau.
"Pauline worked around the clock to bring an unbelievable amount of media attention to our team which truly proved the Rush have found a great market in the City of Champions."
Brosseau's efforts were obvious as the Rush had a near 40% increase in the number of season-ticket holders. The Rush's average attendance also jumped to 10,815 per game putting the club in sixth spot in the league.
More than 86,000 fans took in Rush action during the 2007 season and the team never played a home game in front of less than 9,100 fans.
But the crowning achievement of the year came in the season finale as Brosseau's tireless work led to a franchise-high crowd of 14,790. More than 1,200 tickets were sold the day before the game and the sales continued to soar throughout game-day.
"The increase in ticket sales had a great deal to do with the awareness of our product and the sports fans in Edmonton realized what a great sport lacrosse is and how exciting Rush games are," said Brosseau. "Our great fans deserve a lot of credit for this award."
Hughes's drive to catapult the Rush's profile resulted in a huge increase in the media coverage. Rush players and coaches were featured in more newspaper, television and radio interviews than in any other NLL market as the team became truly recognized among the major pro sports teams in the City of Champions.
She was also instrumental in the club's live TV broadcasts and in the organization of the numerous player appearances and charitable events.
"It was a tremendous year of growth for the Rush and the players and coaching staff responded in superb fashion by making themselves available for so many interviews and appearances," said Hughes. "With an exciting team and interesting characters it's a pleasure to get their stories into the media."
