NLL Partners with Sports Interaction

Published on January 30, 2017 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The National Lacrosse League (NLL), the largest men's professional indoor lacrosse league in North America, today announced a new partnership with Sports Interaction, the first online sportsbook and casino licensed and regulated in Canada, operated by Mohawk Online.

Through this partnership, Sports Interaction is introducing NLL into its online-gambling market, enabling Canadian sports-wagering enthusiasts to place bets on each of the NLL's nine teams throughout the U.S. and Canada. Entering into the online-gambling market through this partnership is the latest in a string of digitally focused moves by the NLL to enrich the spectator experience.

"We've made a commitment to providing fans with full access to the NLL - offering a firsthand look at the sport via players' wearable technology, airing live digital broadcasts on our newly launched NLL TV, and pursuing ongoing initiatives to upgrade the fan experience," said Nick Sakiewicz, Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League. "Partnering with Sports Interaction and Mohawk Online enables us to continue making strides toward providing a fully immersive spectator experience."

Through the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, all revenue generated by Mohawk Online is invested back into the Kahnawake community. Through Sports Interaction, Mohawk Online offers a modern interpretation of ancient Mohawk gambling traditions - much like the historical roots of the sport of lacrosse itself, betting on games of skill and chance are an integral part of the community's history, dating back before the European colonization of North America.

"We are proud to support the teams and the fans of the NLL because they bring so much spirit, passion and excitement to the national game," said Dean Montour, CEO of Mohawk Online, operators of www.sportsinteraction.com. "Sports Interaction is a socioeconomic initiative of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake designed to provide funding for our community, and nothing more perfectly encapsulates our right to do this than sponsoring the NLL whose sport lies in the very heart of our Mohawk heritage."

"We thank the NLL and the teams of Calgary, Saskatchewan, Toronto, and Vancouver for this opportunity to support lacrosse across Canada," said Joe Norton, Grand Chief of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake. "As a former player and head coach I can appreciate the ways in which the NLL has masterfully packaged our great game for the modern age; they are true innovators and we are delighted to journey with them as they create the next major North American league. A First Nation business sponsoring sports at this level underlines the socioeconomic progress being made in Canada today and embodies the spirit of reconciliation and recognition that so many of us share."
