NLL All-Star Game Update: Ratcliff, Beers & Self Added to East & West Rosters
February 21, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
The National Lacrosse League has announced three substitutions for injured players in the 2012 NLL All-Star Game. The All-Star Game takes place on Saturday, February 25, 7 p.m. ET at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, home of the Buffalo Bandits.
Washington Stealth teammates Lewis Ratcliff and Matt Beers, and Scott Self of the Buffalo Bandits have been named to the All-Star rosters.
On the West squad, Ratcliff will replace teammate Rhys Duch, and Beers takes over the spot that belonged to the Chris Corbeil of the Edmonton Rush.
Ratcliff, who will make his sixth All-Star appearance, is tied with Duch for the Stealth lead with 14 goals and is second with 29 points.
Beers, who's slated to make his All-Star debut, has picked up 17 loose balls and leads Washington with 31 penalty minutes. He's also contributed three goals and four assists in six games.
Self will play in his third All-Star game after collecting a team high-tying 34 loose balls with a goal and eight assists in six games. Self takes the place of Toronto Rock forward Colin Doyle.
Self is the sixth member of the host Bandits to make the All-Star team with forwards John Tavares and Luke Wiles, defensemen Billy Dee Smith and Chris White, and goaltender Mike Thompson.
Also, Dan Dawson of the Philadelphia Wings, already on the East roster, replaces injured Toronto Rock forward Colin Doyle as assistant captain for the East team.
Dawson has recorded 10 points in each of the last two weeks, making him the first NLL player since Tracey Kelusky in 2001 to do so. Dawson, the reigning Offensive Player of the Week, leads the league with 34 assists and is second with 41 points.
