NL Remains a Top Draw

Eight Northern League franchises were among the top 100 draws in minor league baseball in the 2002 season.

The St. Paul Saints continued to sell out every night and averaged 6,263 people. The Winnipeg Goldeyes were close behind with 6,200 per game. Both franchises were the top independent professional baseball draws. They averaged more fans than 13 of 30 Triple-A teams, 28 of 30 Double-A teams and all but a handful of Single-A franchises.

St. Paul ranked No. 24 and Winnipeg No. 26 among all minor league clubs in average attendance. The second-year Lincoln Saltdogs ranked 44th, Schaumburg was 58th, expansion Joliet was 61st and Fargo-Moorhead was 68th.

In the East Division, Les Capitales de Québec ranked 78th with 3,457 fans per game and the expansion Brockton Rox were 97th with a 3,135 average.
