London Lightning News Release
(London, Ontario) For the fans in attendance tonight, they were either going to see their home team Moncton Miracles pull off an upset, or witness why the London Lightning are the top team in the NBL Canada. London won the first of it's back -to- back road games last night and was looking to make it two straight to start Decem- ber. Ultimately, it was the Lightning winning on this Saturday night, 98-93.
"We played a great game," Coach Michael Ray Richardson emphasized. "Defensively we played smart. We had a short roster because two of our players were hurt (DeAnthony Bowden and Rodney Buford) and the bench came in and played well. It was a great all around game. Each player contributed to the game and were crucial factors in the result."
Depth has been the X Factor for London all season long. A quick look at the box score reveals how the Lightning reserves contributed to the night's outcome: Shamari Spears, coming off the bench for the Lightning, ended the game with a season high 31 points. Eddie Smith and Shawn Daniels added 23 and 21 re- spectively, while Gabe Freeman kept active on the boards ending with 13 rebounds.
Coming into the game, the consistent Lightning had only lost one home game and one road game in the season. In one week, they host their only home game of the month (against Oshawa) at 7 PM in front of their home fans at the John Labatt Centre.
