Knoxville NightHawks News Release
Knoxville, TN- The Knoxville Civic Coliseum will be an electric place on Saturday night when the Richmond Raiders (2-1) take on the Nighthawks (0-2) during the 2012 Home Opener.
Last week the Raiders ended up running away with the game, 70-42, after halftime but the Nighthawks are ready for the re-match this week to prove that they are still focused and fighting to win that championship.
Recent Nighthawk signings of defensive back Xavier Mitchell and defensive linebacker Chase Nelson will be sure to shake up the Raiders offense. Mitchell and Nelson are recognizable names in Knoxville since they both played at the University of Tennessee in recent years. Mitchell was an impressive signing that will bring a great amount of experience to the team as he has played with the Cleveland Browns.
The Nighthawks are looking forward to finally being able to play on their home field with their fans cheering them on.
"We are excited to play at home since being on the road the past two weeks has been rough on us. With having a bye week next week, it is very important for us to win this game and show our fans that we are still fighting to reach that championship game. We are fortunate that we have 4 home games in 5 weeks during the next stretch ahead," said Head Coach Chris MacKeown.
Doors will open at the Civic Coliseum at 6pm with kickoff taking place at 7pm. The first 3,000 fans will receive a 2012 Nighthawks Magnet Schedule. To order tickets, call (865) 686-6106 or visit www.knoxvilletickets.com.
