Knoxville NightHawks News Release
The Knoxville Nighthawks had the honor to participate with the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" build on January 11th. Players, staff, and Coach MacKeown went out to the build site from 8pm-2am to help with removal of debris, set up the VIP tent, and help distribute food to the construction crew. Kicker Alex Walls got to work in the production trailers to get them all set for the crew.
Due to the massive rainstorm, there were many areas that needed to be cleared of water and mud. Construction crews continuously worked throughout the night laying out the foundation and raking the footers.
Coach Chris MacKeown was moved by his "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" experience, "It was a wonderful experience! Makes you proud to be able to help others that have down so much good for so many. I also made some new friends and stronger bond with the community."
The well-deserving Watson family will be welcomed home on Tuesday, January 17th with a brand new home. There will also be a new duplex for the the single mothers to live in that are a part of the Restoration House, which is the ministry that the Watson's run. The Restoration House helps single mothers get back on their feet through an 18-month program.
The Nighthawks organization believes that community service is an important part of any good organization. The players will be participating in numerous community events throughout the year to help bring awareness to concerns in Knoxville and the surrounding areas.
