NORFOLK, Dec. 10, 2002 -- The Norfolk Nighthawks announced that the arenafootball2 league offices assigned the team a new player - Rico Ochoa. Ochoa spent his college playing days with the University of Nebraska at Kearny, one of the strongest programs in NCAA Division II's West Region.
Ochoa was redshirted in 1998 and played in for the "Lopers" in 1999. He earned a letter that year as a backup defensive linemen. He made four tackles in six games and also had one interception returned for seven yards.
He attended Sidney High School in Sidney, Neb., where he was an all-state pick in football. He also was on the wrestling team.
Ochoa would likely play the Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman (OL/DL) position for the Nighthawks.
