Nighthawks Assigned Four New Players

NORFOLK, Dec. 17, 2002 -- The Norfolk Nighthawks were assigned four new players this past week. These players will compete for positions on this year's Nighthawks football squad.

Kevin Parker

Parker is an alumnus of Virginia State University, where he was recognized as a 200 Black College Football All-American and an All-American by Coca Cola. Parker will compete for a starting position at the Fullback/Linebacker position with the Nighthawks. An imposing force on offense and defense, Parker is a Hampton Roads native. He graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake. Parker stands at 6'2" and weighs in at 245 pounds.

Ryan Brady

Brady is a football player with tremendous skill and ability, who played his college ball at the University of West Virginia. With the Nighthawks, he's penciled in at OL/DL. At 6'2" and 285 pounds, Brady should prove a force on the offensive and defensive lines.

Brady played in three bowl games while a Mountaineer. They were the 1996 Gator Bowl, the 1997 CarQuest Bowl and the1998 Insight.com Bowl. Brady was a teammate of Marc Bulger, currently the starting quarterback of the St. Louis Rams while at the University of West Virginia.

Patrick Paulson

Paulson is a large man, who played Offensive Left Tackle with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. While at Minnesota-Duluth, Paulson overwhelmed his defensive counterparts, as he dominated the "O" line with a blocking effciency of 91.1 percent.

Paulson transferred from Snow College in Orem, Utah, where he played 17 games. Paulson was honored as an All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference 1st Team in 2002 and as a All- Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference 2nd Team in 2001.

Rob Cole

Kicker Rob Cole hails from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he served as a true "kickoff specialist," as he forced opponents onto one knee... with 23 touchbacks. Cole played semi-pro football with the Akron Jaguars. Cole stands at 5'8" and weighs in at 175 pounds.
