KNOXVILLE -- Nighthawks coach Chris MacKeown has announced the addition of five more players to his roster as Knoxville continues to build towards the 2012 Professional Indoor Football League season.

The Hawks have signed Livingstone fullback Landon Johnson (6-foot, 195 pounds), North Alabama defensive back Hakim Kirk (5-9, 191), McPherson College defensive back Shelton Thigpen (5-10, 192), West Texas A&M running back Kelvin Thompson (5-10, 202) and Wingate defensive lineman Greg Harmon (6-1, 242).

All will be playing in their first arena-type football season.

"This group of men that we signed this week give us a nice mix of rookies and players with professional playing experience,'' MacKeown said. "It is so important to have veteran leadership and talented rookies on the roster."

Thigpen paced the McPherson secondary as a senior in 2010 with 47 tackles, including 33 solo stops. The 2^nd Team All-Conference performer finished his career with 173 tackles, 16 pass breakups and nine interceptions for the NAIA's Bulldogs.

Thompson's durability and big-play ability kept him on the field throughout his career at WTAMU. As an all-purpose back, he had over 725 yards rushing and 325 yards receiving his senior year, where he averaged 5.2 yards per rush last season.

Harmon was an All-South Atlantic Conference performer through his career at Wingate, finishing with over 250 tackles with 106 of those coming as a redshirt senior in '10.
