Lafayette, LA--As the National Indoor Football League looks towards this Saturday's championship game between the Lexington Horsemen and Sioux Falls Storm in South Dakota, the league is pleased to announce plans of major expansion in the State of Florida for the 2005 season.
The league is currently reviewing membership applications for the cities of Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Lakeland, and Kissimmee. These applications for membership will come to a vote during the September NIFL meetings in Las Vegas.
The proposed franchises are in talks with several facilities throughout Florida, as follows:
City Facility Contact Phone
Gainesville O'Connell Center 352-392-5500
Daytona Beach Ocean Center 800-858-6444
Fort Lauderdale Office Depot Center 954-577-9009
Kissimmee Osceola Heritage Park 321-697-3320
Lakeland Lakeland Center 863-834-8100
"We have great investors in place, now it is time to test the waters and see if the support for these franchises in Florida will be there," NIFL President Carolyn Shiver said. "As a league, we are conducting market research in Florida at this time. We really want to hear from Floridians in each of these cities to see if they are willing to embrace and support our product of indoor football in their community by contacting the Office of Florida Expansion."
The National Indoor Football League will begin its fifth year of operation in 2005. The league currently has 25 member teams spanning across the United States. Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Lakeland, and Kissimmee now join Everett, Washington and Dayton, Ohio as potential new markets as the NIFL looks towards continued expansion for the 2005 season.
The Office of Florida Expansion can be reached at 866-671-0111, and welcomes calls from fans and sponsors. For more information, you can also contact the NIFL Office at 888-422-9682 or visit www.nationalindoorfootballleague.net.
