NIFL Revokes TIPS Franchises, Moves Forward With Teams

March 29, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) News Release

LAFAYETTE, LA—The National Indoor Football League has announced today the revocation of three franchises from Tri-State Indoor Professional Sports (TIPS). TIPS served as the owners of NIFL franchises in Greenville, SC, Waco, TX, and Fort Collins, CO.

The NIFL is currently working to secure new, local ownership in all three cities.

"As a league, we are working hard to get our new local ownership in place," NIFL Commissioner Carolyn Shiver said. "Waco is in the process of announcing their new ownership group, and we are still working hard to get everything settled in both Greenville and Fort Collins."

Currently, Waco will host all home and away contests as scheduled. Fort Collins and Greenville will fulfill their road schedule, at a minimum. Negotiations are ongoing with both the buildings in Fort Collins and Greenville.

Fans that purchased season tickets in Greenville or Fort Collins are asked to contact TIPS directly in regards to season ticket refunds. TIPS ownership can be reached at 216-849-2936 or 865-579-0601.

"As we move forward in each of these member cities, we are still looking forward to a strong year as a league," Shiver continued. "The NIFL is committed to the players that are in place in all three cities, and helping to secure local ownership groups for these communities."

The league expects minimal schedule changes to take place as a result of this announcement.

The Greenville RiverHawks will kick off their season tomorrow night on the road, as scheduled, against the Myrtle Beach Stingrays.

In other news, the home game scheduled in Waco, Texas on Tuesday, March 30th against the Lake Charles LandSharks has been moved to May 30th. Also, the Tupelo FireAnts will host the Greenville RiverHawks in Mississippi on Saturday, April 3rd.
